Zanzibar — A NORWEGIAN tourist identified as
Axell Magnus, 36, was found dead in his room at Mnarani Aquarium Hotel,
Nungwi, in north Zanzibar, police said.
"Investigation continues, but the man checked in the hotel at around 8.00pm in the evening on Sunday but never woke-up.
The hotel attendants unsuccessfully tried to knock on the door before informing the community leader and the police about the matter," said Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Salma Khamis.
She said after they broke into the room they found the tourist already dead, adding, "The body has been taken to Mnazi Mmoja main hospital for a post-mortem.
The body was found with twenty-two pellets of suspected narcotics drugs."
The Scandinavian consul general in Zanzibar and other officials from the Norwegian embassy in Dar es Salaam were yesterday busy following up the incident with Zanzibar authorities.
