Benjamin Mkapa |
Microsoft has unveiled a 4Afrika Advisory
Council. Chaired by His Excellency Benjamin Mkapa, former president of
Tanzania, this 17 person Council will guide strategic investments
undertaken by the Microsoft 4Afrika Initiative.
On the Council, amongst others, is managing director of Microsoft
South Africa, Mteto Nyati, and senior TED fellow from Kenya, Juliana
Rotich. Four slots have also been allocated to youth leaders from across
the continent and the invitation will be sent out in the coming weeks.
One of the main goals of this Council is to ensure that the 4Afrika
Initiative is closely aligned with broader African development goals.
One of these development goals is affordable internet access and
Microsoft just partnered with the A4AI, which is focused on changing
policies and regulations to introduce affordable and competitive
broadband services in Africa.
