construction commenced, have been streamlined to give visitors are
unique nature experience.
Talking during the caves' inauguration, Rica Rwigamba, Head of
Tourism and conservation at RDB, emphasized RDB's goal to diversify the
sector. "This is yet another key result toward our goal to increase to
increase tourism products, these caves are expected to attract many
tourists as we hope to see them spend more days in Rwanda."
More than 810 people have participated in the development works of
the cave and this has positively impacted their lives. The Musanze Caves
offer in-depth understanding of geological history and development of
the earth.
They are located in the volcanic region of the country, where lava
flow layers dating from 65 million years ago have created the Albertine
Rift Valley. The caves are two kilometers underneath the ground with the
Musanze Cave at 1,275 meters and Kinigi Cave at 810 meters deep
respectively. The caves are expected to attract a million tourists by
the end of next year.
